I have seen another excellent, recent rendering of this bloom, but this one is mine… I found it along the roadside whilst on my bike, hunting for wildflowers… this is a woodland flower that must be imaged at the correct time as the bloom opens and closes during the the day… This is the bloom of the Chicory plant… it’s a fantastic plant… the leaves can be used for salad, and the root after drying, baking and grinding, can be used as a substitute or additive for coffee! Luzianne Coffee, a deep South tradition, is made by a company founded in Monroe, Louisiana. They still produce a chicory blend…
