though they are said to grow in Iowa, I found these “wildflowers” in Northern Minnesota… an ancient species, is Toadpipe, with links back to the dinosaur swamps, where prehistoric versions were as tall as trees… also this plant, when freshly sprouted, served as a food source for Indians in Minnesota and when dried out the plant, could be used to scour pots, giving it another common name, Scouring Rush…
